Youth must connect with Punjabi Culture, History and Literature for Survival of Punjabi language

The Post- graduate Department of Punjabi, Multani Mal Modi College today organised a special lecture to celebrate the ‘International Mother Tongue Day’. The objective of this programme was to equip the students with the constructive and pro-people potential of Punjabi language and to engage the students with the creative writing and thought process of eminent Punjabi writer, Dr Waryam Singh Sandhu.
College principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar welcomed the chief guest and said that the originality of thoughts and the practice of dialogue are two important factors for development of any language. He said that in the contemporary times the process of immigration and the new media technologies are changing the structure and functionality of Punjabi language making it a global language.
Dr. Gurdeep Singh, head of Punjabi Department appreciated the literary contribution of Dr. Sandhu and said that language and literature are the main factors in developing streams of conscious among a society.
Dr. Waryam Singh Sandhu was formally introduced with the students by Dr. Veerpal Kaur, Assistant Professor, Punjabi Department.
In his lecture Dr. Waryam Singh Sandhu said that every language grows and develops in the contours of ways of living and conditions of survival. The process of immigration has raised many questions about existence and utilization of our Punjabi language. He told that the internal migrants from other states are coming to Punjab in the search of works and are keen on learning Punjabi language. He motivated the students to engage with their glorious heritage, history, culture and traditions of knowledge.
After the lecture a live discussion was also held. The stage was conducted by Dr. Devinder Singh, Punjabi Department. The vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Rupinder Singh Dhillon from Punjabi Department. Vice-Principal Prof. Ved Praksah Sharma, Prof. Jagdeep Kaur and teachers from different departments were present in this lecture. Large number of students participated in it.

ਸਥਾਨਕ ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਪੋਸਟ-ਗ੍ਰੈਜੂਏਟ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਅੱਜ ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਮਾਤ-ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਦਿਵਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਦੇ ਸਿਰਮੌਰ ਕਹਾਣੀਕਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਦਵਾਨ ਲੇਖਕ ਡਾ.ਵਰਿਆਮ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੰਧੂ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਿਰਕਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਵ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਰਜਣਾਤਮਿਕ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਤੇ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਚਾਰ-ਸਾਰ ਦੇ ਵਿਭਿੰਨ ਪਹਿਲੂਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਜਾਣੂ ਕਰਵਾਉਣਾ ਸੀ ਉੱਥੇ ਡਾ.ਵਰਿਆਮ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੰਧੂ ਦੀ ਲੇਖਣ-ਪ੍ਰਕ੍ਰਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਰਾਹੀ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਸਮਾਜ ਦੀ ਬਣਤਰ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਵਾਦ ਰਚਾਉਣਾ ਵੀ ਸੀ।
ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ.ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਵਕਤਾ ਦਾ ਸਵਾਗਤ ਕਰਦਿਆ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਵਿਚਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੌਲਕਿਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਵਾਦ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਦੇ ਵਿਗਸਣ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਮੁੱਖ ਤੱਤ ਹੈ।ਉਹਨਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਮੌਜੂਦਾ ਦੌਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਰਵਾਸ ਤੇ ਨਵੀਆਂ ਤਕਨੀਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਗੁੰਝਲਦਾਰ ਵਰਤਾਰਿਆਂ ਕਾਰਣ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਦਾ ਸਰੂਪ ਤੇ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਦੀ ਹੱਦਬੰਦੀ ਬਦਲ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
ਪੋਸਟ-ਗ੍ਰੈਜੂਏਟ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਮੁਖੀ ਡਾ. ਗੁਰਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੰਧੂ ਨੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਵਕਤਾ ਡਾ. ਵਰਿਆਮ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੰਧੂ ਦੀ ਸਾਹਿਤਕ ਦੇਣ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਸਾ ਕਰਦਿਆ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਬਾਰੇ ਚੇਤਨਤਾ ਸੱਭਿਅਤਾ ਦੀ ਘਾੜਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਹਤੱਵਪੂਰਣ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਅਦਾ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।ਮੁੱਖ ਵਕਤਾ ਡਾ.ਵਰਿਆਮ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੰਧੂ ਦੀ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਣ ਪਛਾਣ ਡਾ.ਵੀਰਪਾਲ ਕੌਰ, ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਨੇ ਕਰਵਾਈ।
ਡਾ.ਵਰਿਆਮ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੰਧੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਬੋਧਨ ਕਰਦਿਆ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਜੀਵਣ-ਜਾਂਚ ਤੇ ਰਹਿਣ-ਸਹਿਣ ਦੇ ਸਾਂਚਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਪਲਦੀ ਹੈ। ਪਰਵਾਸ ਦੇ ਵਰਤਾਰੇ ਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਸਿੱਖਣ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਰੂਰਤ ਤੇ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਤੇ ਸਵਾਲੀਆ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਲਗਾ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ।ਉਹਨਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਾਹਰਲਿਆਂ ਸੂਬਿਆਂ ਤੋ ਪਰਵਾਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਆ ਰਹੇ ਕਾਮਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਬਣ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਹ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਰੁਜ਼ਗਾਰ ਦੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਹੈ।ਅੰਤਰ-ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਮਾਤ-ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਦਿਵਸ ਦੀ ਮਹਤੱਤਾ ਬਾਰੇ ਦੱਸਦਿਆ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਾ ਰੱਖਣ ਲਈ ਨਵੀਂ ਨਸਲ ਦਾ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਰਾਸਤ,ਸੱਭਿਆਚਾਰ, ਰਹੁ-ਰੀਤਾਂ ਤੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਕਿਫ ਹੋਣਾ ਲਾਜ਼ਮੀ ਹੈ।
ਇਸ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਉਪਰੰਤ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਚਰਚਾ ਵਿਚ ਭਾਗ ਲਿਆ। ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਦਾ ਸੰਚਾਲਨ ਡਾ. ਦਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਬਾਖੂਬੀ ਨਿਭਾਇਆ। ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਦੇ ਅਖੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਦਾ ਮਤਾ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਅਧਿਆਪਕ ਡਾ.ਰੁਪਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਢਿੱਲੋਂ ਨੇ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਵਾਈਸ-ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਪ੍ਰੋ.ਵੇਦ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ, ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਜਗਦੀਪ ਕੌਰ ਸਮੇਤ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਵਿਭਾਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਧਿਆਪਕ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਤੌਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਸਨ। ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਵੱਡੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਧਿਆਪਕ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋਏ।
